The premier Indian Kabaddi competition, the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is swinging in full glory in its landmark 10th season. Jaipur Pink Panthers have acquired the top spot with 71 points, while Telugu Titans are at the other end of the points table with 16 points.

In one of the recent developments, PKL 10 registered 226 million viewers in its first 90 fixtures on its official broadcaster, Star Sports. While proceedings seem to be fluent for PKL, the competition couldn’t manage to find a title sponsor for the 10th edition.

Looking at the brighter side, all 12 franchises have found luck in securing a bunch of sponsors for the milestone 10th edition. Although the PKL sides haven’t fared well on the commercial pitch like the previous seasons they have done a fairly good job for themselves considering the competition itself is without a title sponsor.

Key factors that determine the onboarding of sponsors:

A significant amount of eyeballs guaranteed doesn’t affirm the onboarding of an entity as a sponsor. There are a few more factors that are firmly considered while finalizing a brand sponsorship affiliation.

Expanding on the topic, Durganath Wagle, CEO of Dabang Delhi KC, said, “Speaking about franchises, most of the other teams have been able to get new sponsorships. The newly acquired sponsorships might not seem as high when compared to last season in terms of volume and value as a lot of factors play a critical role in getting sponsorships for any sports league – demand/supply, pricing, timing, key markets, sponsorship ROI, etc. However, despite all the challenges, the league and franchises continuously adapt to such patterns.”

Optimistic approach for the future:

With an underwhelming outing for the competition in signing sponsors for the glory season, the teams seem to be optimistic about the further seasons and continue to build relations and provide fruitful deliverables to their respective commercial partners.

Wagle, added, “Nevertheless, we remain optimistic about the future, and are confident that our league and franchisees will thrive in the long run, bringing excitement and joy to fans across the nation.”

Commenting on the same, Apurv Gupta, Senior Vice President – Contact Sports, Capri Sports, said, “Delivering value to our partners is also one of our primary goals, something that we have been able to achieve while working closely with the team in the Pro Kabaddi League. We are especially lucky to be a part of the team during season 10 of the league and in doing so, we are also moving closer towards our expectations.

“We also want to share an unparalleled experience for the partners that we are working with as we build strong relationships through value generation for each of our partners.”
